Etsy!

I just opened up a store online at Etsy.com! I've recently begun designing jewelry and accessories. Check out my store! :)  ~Le Coquelicot~ Creations by Dani

My recent creations have been the newly popular bib necklaces! Below are three that I have made thus far.  :)

That Glorious Greyscale!

A living room in greyscale may seem a bit dull, particularly in the winter when things are so grey outdoors anyway. However, I have found some fantastic pieces to create a beautiful room in black, white, and grey! We'll begin with some furniture, of course!

First off, this lovely sofa and chair from Pottery Barn are perfect subtle statement pieces. They are contemporary, but not overtly modern and can be played around with to be used in several different types of styles and settings!

This little black table is also from Pottery Barn. It can act as a side table, or use two of them as little coffee tables side by side, rather than one bulky coffee table, for a more open feel.

The right rug brings more warmth to a room. This beautiful "Aspen" rug was found on Lamps Plus' store online! It is just one example of a lovely monochrome piece that adds to the room. Lamps Plus also had several other greyscale rugs that would work beautifully in this type of living room as well.

This gorgeous chandelier was also found on Lamps Plus! The shade surrounding the crystal center piece is created from black fringe for a look that is classy and modern. I am completely in love with this chandelier! C'est très chic!

From there on, I ventured into the realm of Etsy.com where I found several gorgeous items, many of which are handmade!

This beautiful little table lamp found in Urban Accent Home's shop is unique without being off-the-wall. The tripod legs draw the eyes up to the shade rather than overpowering it like so many other lamp bases do. The shade itself is simple--again, no overpowering pattern--to finish off this elegant piece.

With lighting covered, I decided to look around for some accent pieces. I love pillows, so I naturally looked for those first! I found this pretty pillow on the Create A View Design shop. It's modern blend with romantic-Victorian make it a perfect little toss pillow that helps to tie in the center of the chandelier into the more contemporary feminine feel of the room overall.

I was so excited when I found this gorgeous rose accent pillow in the Dede Etsy Shop! It comes in white and grey as seen here AND in black and white as well. The pillow is simple and elegant, adding character to our lovely, yet plain white couch! As a side note, this pillow is also available in many other colours in the shop online.

Finally, some wall art is usually necessary, isn't it? For this room, I thought something pretty, but out of the ordinary was probably the best fit. Why not wall decals? These pretty little pieces of vinyl are very easy to add to any smooth surfaced wall or window and peel off without a mess. I found two particularly beautiful wall decals from WowWall. The first is a lovely little daisy plant decal and the second is based off of a plum tree featuring the branches, flowers, and some birds to boot! Just some great examples of this type of inexpensive wall art!

Of course, the wonderful thing about creating a room in greyscale is the fact that a splash of colour can be added so easily! Personally, I would love to add a few details in a bright Crayola yellow, but a bright lipstick red, turquoise, or Kelly green would be beautiful as well. Any bright colour can be added just by finding some accent pieces like pillows, curtains, wall art, or vases and bringing them into the room! Use your imagination and have fun! :)

A Hospitable Hello

Although wreaths are a beautiful part of both harvest/Thanksgiving and Christmas celebration, nothing truly greets your guests with warmth and festivity as a door knocker. Now I know it sounds a little strange to consider a door knocker in this day and age due to the overwhelming deployment of the door bell, but these lovely ornaments displayed on one's home portal deliver to the visitor a glimpse of the resident's personality. I have taken some time to sort through many different types of door knockers and have found several unique variations which I have decided to share with you below. The list of websites at the bottom will direct you to where these door knockers can be found. :)

She Sells Sea Shells by the Sea Shore...

Because it is a big part of a Southern Californian summer, I have come up with a few additions to a home with a sea shore/beach theme. Some of the items are very lovely and unique! Have a look! Items were found at Wisteria.com, cottageandbungalow.com, silvergallery.com, and seainspired.com. There are also a couple of ideas for how to create your own "beach feel" in your home from Southern Living Magazine.

And ideas from Southern Living... a mini-beach and a sea-shell garland to create for yourself and use in your home decorations! :)
